Several years ago, I hung metal foil wallpaper in the bathroom and installed a new light fixture on the wall. The next day, my daughter told me that she got a mild shock when she touched the walls. In disbelief, I went into the bathroom and pushed my palms to the wall and yes, I felt a mild current. I quickly called a friend who’s an expert at wiring and he pointed out that I’d wired the fixture incorrectly. I’d energized the metal fixture, which in turn energized the foil wallpaper! An occasional ribbing now and then is a good trade-off for a safe bathroom.
