10. Take household bottles (wine or juice, even beer bottles) and simply spray-paint them holiday colors. Green, red and blue work well. Even just taking a dozen bottles, spraying them with silver paint and popping candles, flowers, or twigs in them is the simple and perfect accent for a dining table, fireplace mantel, or a long console table. It will look stunning and no one will even guess how you did it so simply!

Another cheap & easy decorating tip: use existing tall glass vases or decorative pedestal bowls that you might have around the house, and place several christmas ornaments, alternating colors (I like to use the satin-thread old-school ones you can get at the 99-cent stores, but any will do) - adds a great visual impact anywhere & uses pre-existing things you have, just presented in a new way...as a centerpiece, you can place some sprigs of pine around it for added "oomph", or flank w/candelabras
