ANTIQUE JEWELRY
The guide: Kovels' Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide, or Warman's Jewelry, by Christie Romero.

What's hot: Any type of signed designer piece (Tiffany, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels) or pieces that have a recognizable vintage style, like Art Deco, says Richard Brodney, owner of Brodney Antiques and Jewelry in Boston.

What's not: "It's always something somebody's grandmother had," says Brodney. "The grandmother, God bless her, she's 85 and tells the granddaughter, I'm leaving you this ring. It's worth a lot of money. And a couple hundred dollars is a lot of money."

I collected baseball cards by the complete set in the late 1980's and early 90's. Also have some autograph cards of some Boston Red Soxs. Anyone interested.

my husband collected baseball cards as a kid. Had a bushel basket of them including ALL of the players the last time the Cubs won the series. His mom told him to take them but he didn't so they were sent to trash. YIKES

Interesting, but just a small taste of "collectors gone wild". Take a look at Super Nintendo Games (only 10-15 years out of production) selling for as much as several thousand dollars a piece. That would be original factory sealed and mint condition!
