Cranberry Almond Chewies...Can someone verify for me that the 1/4 cup of vanilla extract is correct, seems awful strong to me. And since I am allergic to nuts can the almonds be left off and what could be substituted for them

I agree Stephanie - well stated. Plus, what's wrong with a good source of nut butter protien, whole grain pancake mix and fresh banana? Compared to most other breakfast options in this country, I'd say that this is a great morning start. The re-think should be is the overall nutrition outweighing the processed sugar crash...

The sugar in fructose (fruit sugar) is slowly absorbed and so doesn't have a detrimental effect on the blood glucose. Most of these breakfasts have a combination of carbohydrate and protein in them, so the protein would slow down the absorption of the "sugar" and preven the "crash."
