2. Wrap both ends of the new nipple with thread tape and screw it into the fitting inside the wall. Seal around it with silicone caulk and screw on the new spout.

I've put on two slide on spout and it still leaks around the back of the spout against the wall. I've tighten the srew also

I replaced a spout because it was not shutting off the water to the shower head when I pushed down on the diverter button, but the new one won't shut-off either. What would cause this?
