North Bend State Park

Cairo, West Virgina

Named for the horseshoe curve of the north fork of the Huges River, this beautiful 1,405-acre park supplies the wonderment of exploring a high plateau. The central area lies on a bluff at the horseshoe curve. A scenic trail skirts the rim of the escarpment, sometimes descending into and climbing out of miniature valleys that run down to the river's edge. Other trails through the woodlands lead to a variety of overlooks and rock formations.
Featured in the park is the 72-mile North Bend Rail Trail, which is designed for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. And the newly added Cokeley Recreation Area provides five miles of multi-use non-motorized trails, along with a lake stocked with fish, boat rentals, boat and canoe launches, and two accessible fishing platforms.

Open year-round.
