Improved Rain Barrel

Rather than installing the rain barrel into the down spout that can only fill when it rains, I installed PVC directly into the sump pump clean out. I simply threaded the pvc into the threads,along with ashut off valve so when its full I can stop filling the barrel and let the water go out to the street like it normally would. This system allows me to continue catching water even after it stops raining, as well as recapture the water from the watering system in the flower beds. The barrel typically will fill 50gl within 24hr of a steady rainfall that lasted a few hours.
