2. Close the flow lever and dial in the recommended spread rate for the product you’re using before filling the hopper. The higher the gauge setting, the larger the hole size in the hopper—resulting in a faster material flow rate. Whenever you’re loading lawn products into the spreader, place the machine on a sidewalk or driveway to avoid having material spills saturate one spot on your lawn and kill it.
