Large Holes

1. Draw a rectangle around the break with a straightedge or square. Look or put your hand through the break to feel for wires or other obstructions. Then cut out the section with a drywall saw or utility knife.

I think that the first step is to make the patch, then trace the patch overthe damaged area and the cutout will beperfect. I also like to make the cuts like the top of a jack-o-lantern (beveled so that the patch will not fall in.
