Turkey Sausage Patties

If you like garlic, you can use it instead of the sage to season this breakfast dish.

Cooking time: 15 minutes

You Will Need
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 pound lean ground turkey
2 teaspoons canola oil


What to Do
1. In a large bowl, combine the onion, bread crumbs, sage, salt, paprika, and pepper. Crumble turkey over mixture and mix well. Shape into six patties. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

2. In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook patties in oil for 7 minutes on each side or until meat is no longer pink.

Serves 6


Nutritional analysis: 1 patty equals 150 calories, 8 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 60 mg cholesterol, 307 mg sodium, 4 g carbohydrate, trace fiber, 14 g protein. Diabetic exchanges: 1-1/2 lean meat, 1 vegetable, 1 fat.
