The exact numbers were 62 percent opposed with 34 percent in favor. This is actually good news for both political parties: If Washington heeds the citizens’ desires, Republicans on Capitol Hill will not be forced to defend the last eight years—and Democrats can get on with the job of governing, which is more productive than wallowing in the past.
