For the proper inflation pressure for your vehicle tires, look for an inflation chart on the driver’s-side door post or in your manual. Front and rear pressures may differ.
Suggested Tire Rotation
If your vehicle has directional wheels or tires, rotate them front to back on the same side of the vehicle. Check with your dealer or tire manufacturer if you’re unsure.
Watch for uneven
wear
Check the condition of your tire
treads every month or so and watch for the telltale signs of
uneven wear .
Stick a penny upside down into the tire tread. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s hair, the tread is worn down too far and your tires should be replaced.
Reading tread wear patterns: Overinflated
If your tires show wear on the
center of the tread only, you have overinflated tires. Check the
tread depth and replace the tires if necessary or fill them to the
proper pressure.
Reading tread wear patterns: Underinflated
If your tires show wear on the
outer edges of the tread, you’re probably driving on underinflated
tires. Check the tread wear and replace the tires if necessary or
fill them to the proper pressure.
Reading tread wear patterns: Bad Alignment
If your tires are worn on
either the inside or outside of the tread, you’ll need to have
your vehicle’s alignment checked.
