Decorated Cake

Turn a plain cake into a culinary creation fit for any occasion.

Steps 1 to 5

Dress up any cake with this dazzling floral design, which is easy to create with stamps and edible powders. The subtle shading of the edible powders can be created in a color scheme to suit the occasion, or for a wedding the embossing could be left white and just dusted with white powder to give it sparkle.

You Will Need
What to Do
1. Dust the board with some icing sugar and roll out a piece of sugar to taste.






2. Stamp onto the paste with the large oval stamp.






3. Cut out the embossed design with a knife. Repeat the process to make seven stamped ovals.






4. Brush a little red powder onto the center of each oval.







5. Brush bronze powder around the red, blending the colors together where they meet.





Steps 6 to 10

6. Brush gold powder onto the rest of the oval, again blending the colors.






7. Finally, brush white luster powder over the whole oval, softening and further blending the colors.






8. The finished sugar paste ovals should look like this.







9. Roll out another piece of paste and stamp it twice with the same stamp. Cut out one central flower and the center section of the other one.





10. Color the flowers with powders in the same way as the ovals.






Steps 11 to 14

11. Brush a little water onto the back of each oval.







12. Position the first oval on the cake, allowing it to bend over the edge at one end.






13. Position the other ovals around the cake, as shown.







14. Place the flower in the center of the cake. Lay the cutout section on top of it.
