Steps 1 to 4
You don't need to be very artistic to make this elegant project -- simple stamping and punching techniques will do most of the work for you.You Will Need
- Small punched flower stamp
- Purple, yellow, and green watercolor pens
- Strips of watercolor paper
- Fine paintbrush
- Water
- Small flower punch
- Foam mat
- Butterfly and leaf punched stamps and punches
- Piece of watercolor paper to fit picture frame
- Block stamp
- Pale purple, green, yellow, and pink ink pads
- Silicone glue
- Picture frame
1. Color the flower stamp with purple and yellow pens. Make the petals purple and the center yellow.
2. Stamp a strip of watercolor paper with flowers. Recolor the stamp every second or third time to produce stronger and paler flowers.
3. Using a fine paintbrush and water, smudge the colors to create a watercolor effect. Leave to dry.
4. Turn the strip over and scribble on the back of it with the purple and yellow pens.
Steps 5 to 8
5. Again using the paintbrush and water, blend the colors over the whole strip of paper.6. With the strip of paper flower-side up, slide it into the punch until a flower is visible. Punch out the flower. Punch out all the flowers on the strip.
7. Lay a flower on the foam mat and press into the center of it with the end of a pen. The petals will naturally curl up. Treat all the flowers in this way.
8. Stamp, color, and punch out the strips of yellow butterflies and green leaves. They do not need to be colored on the backs.
Steps 9 to 12
9. Shadow stamp the large piece of watercolor paper. Make a dense background of blocks, flowers, butterflies, and leaves. Leave to dry.10. Put a dot of silicone glue on the back of each flower and stick it to the background. Position the flowers randomly.
11. Apply a little glue to the stalk end of each leaf and stick them on. Tuck the glue end under the petals of the flowers.
12. Finally, stick on the butterflies, sticking some of the background and some onto the flowers. Fit the picture into the frame.
