Make Your Bathtub Less Slippery

Avoid a slippery bath surface with one of several different nonslip treatments for the tub or shower.

Q  Is there something I can apply to my tub and my shower stall to make them less slippery?
Lee Agon, Paso Robles, CA

A  We found a spray-on product called Johnny Grip that you can apply to shower stalls, bathtubs and tiles to create a nonslip surface. The product is ready to use out of the bottle and is applied with a handheld sprayer.

Johnny Grip can’t be used on fiberglass, and it’s not recommended for shiny wall tiles because it’ll dull their appearance. A 16-oz. bottle, which will cover several showers and tubs, costs $35. Visit www. johnnygrip.com or www.nonslipfloorproducts. com or call (866) 365-4747.

You can also hire a professional to apply other types of nonslip treatments, starting at about $40, depending on the size of the tub or shower. (Look under “Bathtub Repair” in your Yellow Pages.) These treat- Nonslip bathtub ments are formulated for the particular surface, and some are guaranteed for life.

Or you can buy nonslip mats for your shower or tub. The mats self-adhere to the surface. They cost $7 and up. The drawback to the mats is that they usually become mold magnets if they’re not cleaned regularly.

DOES NOT WORK! Tried 3 times on my tiles at my restaurant. I am looking into SafeStep or something safer.

On our bathtub I have tried stick on decals, rubber mats that get mouldy. Finally I wanted something that works without any fuss. I tried Johnny Grip & the results are amazing, just follow directions & you're done forever. It really works!!!
