Who's Losing Sleep? See the Stats

Sleep statistics prove that catching quality shut eye is not always easy.

Twenty million women are tossing and turning on a nightly basis. Here's a sampling of who's up, along with why, what they do about it, and what they are up against.



  • 60 percent of women get a good night's sleep only a couple of times a week.

  • 74 percent of stay-at-home moms can't sleep.

  • 72 percent of working moms can't sleep.

  • 68 percent of single working women can't sleep.

  • 80 percent are kept up by worrying about things.

  • 43 percent say daytime sleepiness interferes with daily activities like jobs and child care.

  • 80 percent of sleep-deprived women just suck it up and go on with their daily activities.

  • 67 percent use a caffeinated beverage to help.

  • 33 percent have given up sex.

  • 25 percent have recently driven while drowsy.

  • 10 percent have driven while drowsy with a child in the car.

  • 37 percent have fallen asleep at the wheel.
