When
we bought our new home, we soon discovered that the large overhead garage door
didn’t have a power opener. Because it was the middle of winter, I
quickly bought one and installed it right away. Never having done this before,
I was extra careful about reading the instructions. After I had spent several
hours tinkering and adjusting, the moment of truth had come. I summoned my wife
for the grand opening. Our jubilation immediately turned to horror as we
helplessly watched the power opener tear itself off the ceiling while the
garage door stayed closed. When I reviewed the instructions, I realized
I’d forgotten one key step—remove the door latch!
