How many screws does it take to stop a squeak?

Before installing a ceramic tile floor, I had to remove the old vinyl and scrape up the old sticky vinyl adhesive. I screwed down a new plywood subfloor and walked around on it to make sure it was secure. I kept hearing this “click-clack” that sounded like the new subfloor moving up and down. So I added more screws. I walked around again and heard the same sound. I added still more screws. The sound still didn’t disappear. Giving up, I walked outside to get some fresh air. As I stepped onto the adjacent oak flooring, I heard the same “click-clack.” I looked at the bottom of my shoes. They were covered with the sticky vinyl adhesive, and I realized where the sound had come from. Needless to say, I have a solid floor.
