My husband and I had finished putting in a new layer of underlayment plywood over the old subfloor and were about to install the new vinyl flooring. I couldn’t find the wooden yardstick I had been using to measure the plywood. I looked for it in every room of the house. Meanwhile, my husband couldn’t figure out why one section of the floor had a hump in it—after all, we had leveled it before screwing down the new plywood. The shock hit us both at the same time. We removed a piece of plywood and there was our yardstick!
