We finished building our new deck in the late fall, but because the weather was too cold for staining, we decided to wait till spring. Under the deck was a perfect spot to store my canoe and keep it safe and snow free all winter long. That spring I was eager to stain the deck. I went to the home center, got the stain and roller, and got right at it. I let the stain cure for a couple of days, just to be sure. When I went to the back yard to get the deck furniture out of the shed, I saw my yellow canoe nestled beneath the deck—nicely camouflaged with brown stripes all over it!
