I was helping my nephew install a new exterior door that would serve a future second-floor deck. To save time and money, we decided to work off ladders instead of erecting scaffolding.

As we struggled to control the heavy door and secure it in the rough opening we’d cut, it slipped from our grasp and fell 14 ft., onto his brand new pickup truck below. After ordering a new door and fixing the truck, we did it right. We raised a scaffold tower and installed the next door without incident.
