Dust without a cause

In 1979 we bought our first home. It needed quite a bit of fixing up, and we decided to start by replacing the acoustical tile in our daughter’s bedroom with a “real” ceiling. Never having worked with drywall, we didn’t believe amateurs could just “score and snap” the sheets without ruining them. Surely, you needed to be a pro to use that technique. Wearing dust masks, we proceeded to use a circular saw to make each and every cut. The dust was incredible! After the ceiling was hung, we experimented with the score-and-snap technique on some drywall scrap. We felt really foolish when we saw it really did break quite nicely without the clouds of dust.
