If you’ve ever woken up in the morning to find that you’ve left the overhead garage door open all night, you could use a garage door monitor system ($30). There are two components: a sensor that you fasten to the garage door with doublesided tape and a monitor that you can place anywhere inside your home. When the door is up, the battery- powered sensor sends a signal to the monitor, which then flashes a red light. Garage door monitors are available at some hardware stores and home centers. You can buy the model shown here at www.amazon. com (search for “Chamberlain garage door monitor”).
