Bigger, But Not Better

One of last summer’s projects was to build a sturdy stand for hanging our new porch swing. I wanted to build it on a flat surface, so I constructed it in the garage. Wanting to bury the legs in the ground for stability, I left the legs their full 8-ft. length. As I was building it, my 7-year-old daughter commented on how large it was. How right she was. When I tried to move the completed stand to the back yard, it was too large to fit out the garage door — standing or on its side. Out came the reciprocating saw so it would fit through the door. Next time I’ll heed my daughter’s comments.
