Say It in Stone
Perhaps you can't take it with you. You can, however, leave behind a few choice words for the living to remember you by. The following folks and their loved ones obviously put a lot of thought into these epitaphs before the words were, as they say, chiseled in stone.
"That's all folks."
-- Mel Blanc
I had a lover's quarrel with the world.
-- Robert Frost
Here lies a man named Zeke, second fastest draw in Cripple Creek.
-- Gunfighter, Silver City, Nevada
She did it the hard way.
-- Bette Davis
And away we go.
-- Jackie Gleason
A star on earth -- a star in heaven.
-- Karen Carpenter
Murdered by a traitor and a coward whose
name is not worthy to appear here.
-- Jesse James
Here lies the body of Jonathan Blake.
Stepped on the gas instead of the brake.
-- Jonathan Blake, Uniontown, Pennsylvania
Here lies the body of our Anna, done to death by a banana.
It wasn't the fruit that laide her low, but the skin of the thing
that made her go.
-- Anna Hopewell, Enosburg Falls, Vermont
