Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

Mom’s Ultimate

1 cup soft butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups quick oats
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream butter, sugar together. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water, stir into butter/sugar mixture. Add vanilla, then dry ingredients and chips. Drop small balls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350°F.

      I’ve been making these since 2004 when this recipe came out. No cookie compares! SO versatile .. can use butterscotch chips, toffee chips, raisins, nuts, coconut, and at Christmas we add crushed candy canes with chocolate chips. THE BEST. *Tip: start with the boiling water and soda… they will be cooled off when you need to use them. I also add a little more flour. Perfection!
