I’m a huge Grace Potter and the Nocturnals fan, so when I found out Grace along with two other powerhouse passionistas, Arianna Huffington and Bobbi Brown, were teaming up to promote great causes with KIND snacks (a treat I was lucky enough to first try and become hooked on when my co-worker Lauren wrote about them.), I immediately knew what every friend on my holiday gift list was getting: The limited edition Snack and Give Back Holiday Gift Set.
We asked the ladies to share with us what their causes meant to them and which is their favorite KIND bar; their responses are as sweet as the tasty and crunchy delectable snacks:
Arianna Huffington: “I‘m honored to be a board member of the Committee to Protect Journalists, an organization whose commitment to telling the stories that need to be told and safeguarding journalists from censorship and harassment around the world make it central to the future of journalism. There are many reminders, both inspirational and sobering, of CPJ’s importance. I recently had the privilege of attending CPJ’s International Press Freedom Awards, honoring courageous journalists, including those who could not attend because they have been imprisoned for their work.”
On her favorite flavor: “I’m partial to the Dark Chocolate Cherry Cashew, Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, and — since man, and woman, cannot live by chocolate alone — Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio. The old stereotype of the news editor was the whiskey bottle in the bottom drawer — not really my thing. For me, it’s making sure that when you visit my office, you’re always within reach of a delicious and healthy snack.”
Bobbi Brown:”If I wasn’t a makeup artist, I most likely would have been a teacher. To me, teaching and learning are the keys to life. I learned about the Broome Street Academy through my good friend Liz Murray, author of “Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard.” The Academy is a public charter high school that prepares New York City’s most vulnerable young people to graduate with Regents diplomas. I’m so inspired by what these kids overcome on a daily basis, just to get to school.”
On her favorite flavor: “I love the KIND bars that have less than 5 grams of sugar, so I know I’m getting the right kind of energy when I’m reaching for a snack. My favorite flavor is Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt. I try to only eat half at a time, but it doesn’t always work.”
Grace Potter: “My grandfather had Alzheimer’s, and I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects that it had and as a kid it was really confusing to me and I wanted to know more. The Alzheimer’s Association, the organization that my KIND Backstage Snack Pack fundraises for, provides resources and information to help not only educate others about the disease, but also fuels research around its causes and how to cure it.”
On her favorite flavor: “My kit is a mix of KIND’s delicious fruit and nut flavors, but I also had to include its new Dark Chocolate Almond and Sea Salt as I always need a little chocolate.”
The limited edition cubes are available for $42.95 on www.snackandgiveback.com, so snatch yours up and sweeten up the day of your co-workers, friends, family and those in need this holiday season.
