These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are made with oats, adding an extra helping of heart-healthy goodness.

- 2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/3 cup reduced-fat sour cream
- 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 375° F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl. Stir in oats.

Beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together in a large mixer bowl at high speed until well blended. Add egg and vanilla; beat until light and creamy, about 3 minutes. Blend in sour cream with a wooden spoon, then stir in flour mixture all at once; stir just until combined (don’t overmix or the cookies may become tough). Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto lined baking sheets. Bake until cookies are golden, about 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks and cool completely.
