I’m a fan of K-Cups, the single-serve pods that snap into coffee makers and brew up fast for an easy caffeine fix. They’re convenient for us early morning zombies, and the one-cup size means you never end up wasting grounds or using too much (or too little) water when brewing.
Of course, K-Cups come in many varieties, which is a large part of their appeal: You can have a cup o’ joe in the morning and use the same machine for a pipin’ hot mug of cider at night. They’re handy. I turn to my Keurig machine for the occasional “dessert” drink—a cider K-Cup with rum is my go-to—which I was why I was intrigued by these festive recipes from Macy’s. The “Apple Pie Cider” is worth tasting, and ‘nog fans ought to get a kick out of the “Double Spicy Eggnog Coffee.”
And don’t worry: If you don’t have a K-Cup-compatible coffee maker, you can still make the drinks. Search online or in local stores for apple cider or ground gingerbread, pumpkin, or eggnog-flavored coffee (depending on which recipe sounds good to you) and add the other ingredients as suggested. It’s definitely not a bad way to entertain your guests this holiday season after filling up on turkey and mashed potatoes.
