These melt-in-your-mouth cookies are made with oats, adding an extra helping of heart-healthy goodness.

IngredientsNumber of servings: 1 cookie

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/3 cup reduced-fat sour cream
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

How to make it  30 minutes

  • 1

Heat oven to 375° F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl. Stir in oats.

  • 2

Beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together in a large mixer bowl at high speed until well blended. Add egg and vanilla; beat until light and creamy, about 3 minutes. Blend in sour cream with a wooden spoon, then stir in flour mixture all at once; stir just until combined (don’t overmix or the cookies may become tough). Stir in chocolate chips.

  • 3

Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto lined baking sheets. Bake until cookies are golden, about 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks and cool completely.

  • 4

Store remaining cookies in airtight containers up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 3 months. One serving equals one cookie.
