Set smaller, achievable goals for yourself. Losing just five or 10 percent of your body weight can improve your health and help you feel better. So if you weigh, say, 250 pounds, your first goal can be to lose 12 pounds (about five percent). Once you reach that goal, stay there for a few months to let your body stabilize. Then go for the next goal.
