Not all medical errors are due to maliciousness/gross negligence. People do not want to accept the fact that doctors are human beings, just like them, let alone the uncertainty that can often exist in medical conditions. People make mistakes. It's called human error. Yes, we undergo 13 years of training from undergrad on but that does not render us to be superhuman forces incapable of erring.

I'm a physician with > 17,000 ER hours without a hint of serious error or malpractice litigatn. My life and career were destroyed, overnight, by the infamous/corrupt Wisc DORL/MEB for the nonexistent 'PC' crime of 'treating my family'-appropriately-period [Standrd of Care]. The fed gvt has given Hosp admins free reign to 'get rid' of docs who speak of poor care. Lawyers have SOLE discr which docs to 'get' [rarely bad ones]...as well as which corrupt judges/lawyers to ignore! Hardly a secret...

There is a wall of silence. The case you describe in Maryland is typical because the oversight authority, the Board of Physicians, is made up of PHYSICIANS. Google "Adventures in Cardiology"
