Who Is Stressed?

In a recent national poll by CareerBuilder.com, more than half of employees said they work under a great deal of stress; 77 percent reported feeling burnout sometimes.

What was the primary cause of stress on the job?
  • difficult coworkers (16%)
  • unrealistic workload (14.6%)
  • tight deadlines (10.6 %)
  • last-minute projects (9.5%)
  • overbearing or interfering boss (8.8%)
  • personal worries (7.4%)
  • time management/procrastination (5.7%)
  • asked to do things outside area of expertise (5.2%)

So who is most overworked? In a Harris Poll 2,271 respondents identified the following:
  1. Nurses
  2. Teachers
  3. Homemakers
  4. Waiters/waitresses
  5. Doctors
  6. Police officers

In my job as an electronics salesman, I've seen the rise in popularity of sport-utility vehicles and minivans, which has created a market for rear-seat entertainment. Monitors that keep passengers occupied with movies and television have been selling like crazy.
