Short for Premarital Personal and Relationship Evaluation, PREPARE was developed by marriage researchers from the University of Minnesota and elsewhere. It includes 165 questions that cover 14 key relationship areas including assertiveness, active listening, conflict resolution, sex, children, spirituality, and financial planning. Signing up to take the PREPARE inventory usually involves 4-6 follow-up sessions in which a trained counselor helps you talk about inventory results and chart a course for the future. PREPARE is widely used by clergy and secular counselors alike.
