The suggestion is a suggestion, and not a substitute for eating, it simply states that instead of eating some high calorie sweet snacks to chew a piece of gum about 15 minutes prior to having a snack or lunch. For me, I chew gum, it may be annoying to some people, but if you dont like it don't watch someone do it. Also, if you chew peppermint gum, the peppermint extract reduces an upset stomache, and I rarely want to eat anything after my mouth being so minty fresh. Not a Substitute for food!

Actually, gum is not "prescribed" for weight loss, and is just an alternative to eating sugary candy. If you have a sugary candy-eating problem, chewing gum INSTEAD of eating candy WILL cut calories. It isn't a weight-loss aid unless your problem is eating a lot of candy.

Chewing gum does not help as far as delaying hunger and if chewed vigorously can create hunger as it stimulates your stomach juices. However, once in a while I do use gum when I crave something sweet and just hold it in my mouth.. It helps my cravings from time to time. As far as extra hours of sleep.. It is a known fact that a lot of people do not get enough sleep. There have been studies done it. Each person must know if they are sleep deprived or not.

Gum chewing? Terrible suggestion, looks horrible as most people can't chew gum with their mouth closed. And how many people properly dispose of this gross stuff? Better alternative, drink water, it fills your stomach and is good for you. Even a "sugar free" gum stimulates hunger. Die hard soda drinkers, please listen, it's poison people! Green, or white tea, hot or cold is 1000 times healthier. All these tips (except the gum chewing) are good. Sprinkle ground cinnamon on fruit or cereal.

Gum chewing is one of the worst things you can do for your jaw. My dentist told me years ago to stop chewing gum. Some of the best advice for keeping me healthy and headache free.

White tea is an even better alternative - dancers drink white tea for anti-oxidant, energizing, anti-inflammatory (diuretic) proeprties.
