i am 54 yrs old and have done this since I was a child. My mother used to say Hello to everyone and I asked her why - her response was that when you say hello to someone, you are acknowledging their existence as a human being. I also agree that the least fortunate are the most friendly. I work in an area where there is a large number of homeless people, I smile, look them in the eye and say hello each time I see them, I was out for a week & 1 gentlemen asked me if I had been sick. He missed me
Joe, you're right. It really does work. I've been wearing a nametag 24-7 for the 2,939 days and it's amazing.
Another thing about saying hello to everyone is it actually makes YOU happier, in addition to them. Love the reciprocity!
