Here's another way to get connected to neighbor's and friends. www.householdnetwork.com is set up to allow members to set up "networks" of neighbors, friends etc....you can post upcoming events, send them all a note with just one click, and list items you might be willing to loan - tools, entertaining items etc... It really works well and it's FREE.
The single, childless, and childfree friends often are not the ones who disappear after a baby arrives. The new parents are usually the ones who are no longer making time for friends. As a childfree woman who has lost friends to parenthood through no fault of her own, I found your choice of phrasing insulting. The new parents are fallible, too! They are less likely to get ditched than they are to be the ones doing the ditching!

THIS IS SOME GOOD ADVICE. SINCE I RETIRED, A LOT OF MY WORK FRIENDS QUIT COMING ROUND--WE INVITED THEM! BIG CHANGES LET YOU SEE WHO ARE YOUR FRIENDS. THIS IS A GOOD REMINDER. THANKS, JOE
