I also found another unconventional way to unclog a toilet. Just use your garden hose and change the nozzle to a more powerful spray while flushing the toilet. I tried plunging it for nearly an hour today and nothing helped, so I tried the hose and it worked!
Decent information but I have to disagree in regards to the $4.95 rubber plunger. These are more likely to give you nightmares than unclog your toilet. I have always had the best luck with the more expensive black handled style of plungers.
