I have read over and read over that food cravings only last 10 to 15 minutes. That's not necessarily true. My food cravings can last for weeks if I don't give in. To save money and my waistline, I don't order a pizza or go out for burgers or ice cream every time I crave them. I resist as long as possible, living with a craving for days or weeks, satisfying it only when it's convenient for me, not following my taste buds. Why do you assume a craving is a ten minute problem?
I play the "What do I really want?" game with food. Let's say I go to Subway. I really want a meatball sub with extra cheese, large Pepsi and Doritos. Instead I do a double take and order a grilled chicken sandwich with extra veggies, baked Doritos and Diet Pepsi. Simply lightening up what you want can really show in your waistline.
