I have a list of phrases that annoy me, including “I need closure,” “To be honest,” “The bottom line is," “I'm just devastated,” and “I could care less.” However, the phrase that annoys me the most is “You’re kidding!” People often say that after I've just told them about something horrible that has happened, like a death in the family. I never know what to say in response, since "Yeah, I just made that up" isn't always appropriate.
