What I would tell to Obama: I feel sorry for you. Right now a lot of Americans put their hope on you, and even more, a lot of people around this world put their hope on your shoulder. Make sure you don’t let us down.
I think that more should be done for the lower class individuals. We should have the exact same rights as the middle class and the upper class however the poor do not have these rights at the present time. A case in point I make around 8,000.00 per year I was born in America as was my parents however i married a Filipino in the Philippines due to the fact that I do not make an income that exceeds the poverty level 22,500 for me to bring my wife and daughter to the USA my wife and daughter could never meet my father who recently passed away. Due to our being married it automatically disqualified her for a tourist visa to even visit the USA for a period of 3 weeks. The US Government has constantly discriminated against the poor in not offering adequate legal, and medical services and with this they deny a family that has been married for 8 years already a chance to be together 365 days per year another way of our Government taking away our rights to the pursuit of happiness just because we don't make a certain amount of money.
I suggest he stop the bailout of wall street and return what's left of the 700 billion to the hard working American people --- they would surely get the economy going. I know people who would start business right here in the good ole US of A and keep jobs where they need to be. Others I know would shop until the very last dime is spent --- keeping the stores open and making a buck. Others are kind hearted souls who would give to the homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and churches. Let us --- the people who are going to pay back that money -- spend it where it needs to be spent. I really thing we'd do a much better job than the treasury department.
Thanks, Joyce
Now that he is President Elect Obama, I would strongly urge him to strive for "unity" instead of diversity. I feel strongly that North America could be a lot stronger if we could rid ourselves of the ugliness attached to colour differences. We have so much talent and so much potential Nation Wide, yet during a trip to the Souther States in April of 08 to assist with the Katrina rebuilding project(s) I saw first hand a racially divided state.
I would like Obama to implement strategies which promote "unity groups" instead of "diversity groups" like we have here in Canada. I've always been a strong believer in strength in numbers and the word "diversity" doesn't lend itself to building numbers, rather it lends itself to segregation.
Many of us watched in awe as President Elect Obama made history. I'm so proud of him and his family and wish him all the best.
