Beyond Corned Beef: Irish Meals to Make Year Round

by Lauren Gniazdowski

Don’t let St. Patrick’s Day be the only time you enjoy the delights of Irish food! With a little help from Irish chefs and TV personalities Clodagh McKenna and Rachel Allen, who both have new cookbooks out this spring, you can experience a year of eating deliciously Irish. Here’s how to get cooking:

Clodagh McKenna (the Irish Rachael Ray, according to Forbes) takes you on a year long journey in Clodagh’s Kitchen Diaries (Kyle Books). She highlights what’s in season and has the major holidays covered (yes, even St. Patrick’s Day). The Chicago Tribune says, “The book is an approachable blend of unfussy comfort foods and dishes inspired to challenge your skills and your senses.”

Rachel Allen (the Nigella Lawson of Irish cooking, according to Serious Eats) shares her very best family recipes in Rachel’s Irish Family Food (HarperCollins). She has meal ideas for all occasions, from busy weeknights to special feasts. Food blog theKitchn says, “She presents Irish cuisine with a breath of fresh air, including modern takes on traditional dishes.”

Cheers!
