I can get lost in good photography websites just like I can in good books—they tell a story, capture a current event, stir an emotion, and act as an escape. So, I turn to these four websites for inspiration and to get my fill of what’s new, noteworthy, and even nostalgic:

For current work: Feature Shoot
Bold, beautiful images dominate the homepage of this site run by photo editor and curator Alison Zavos. Feature Shoot showcases projects by emerging and established commercial and fine art photographers. Zavos has created a destination where anyone can check out what photographers are working on right now.

For the classics: Life
The print edition may be history, but Life lives on online. This is the ultimate collection of published and unpublished images from their archives, which is why once I started to look through them, I couldn’t stop! You can view slideshows by historical event, decade, topic, or photographer—or simply just get lost.

For great curation: Time LightBox
I’m always excited to see what’s featured on this site curated by the picture editors at Time magazine. My colleague, David Noonan, wrote about LightBox recently—read his post here.

My top blog: RAW File
The photo editors of Wired magazine put together an entertaining and informative mix of images, videos, news, and stories. They cover everything from technology to photojournalism to projects like this Deep Fried Gadgets series, which I discovered on their site.
