In Case You Missed It: A Chinese Wizard of Oz
by Chuck Davis
For most people, it’s the 1939 movie that comes to mind when they hear the words The Wizard of Oz. But artist Billy Nunez has created a new version in the style of imaginative Chinese line-drawings. See them for yourself at Design Taxi’s feature from this summer, “If ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ Were Set In China… ”
The premise is simple enough: “Dorothy is a little Chinese girl, Lion is a tiger, Tin Man is a samurai, and Scarecrow is still a scarecrow but looks somewhat different.” But make no mistake: It’s the most enchanting set of drawings you’ll see today, guaranteed.
