U.S. Marines Take On “Call Me Maybe”
by Caitlin O'Connell
We’ve seen “Call Me Maybe” spoofed by politicians and puppets, we’ve even figured out why it’s so catchy. But no amount of overplay can detract from the pure fun of watching these U.S. troops in Afghanistan lip-sync and dance to Carly Rae Jepsen’s summer hit, below.
Eric Raum, who works for the United Service Organization, set the plan for the military-style parody in motion, and one day dDuring their lunch break, marines and airmen stationed at Kandahar air base set to work choreographing a routine. ABC News reports that while the troops had military command’s permission to make the video, they had little time to do it; our talented servicemen and women got the dance down in only 30 minutes. On Raum’s blog, he explains how much hard work and sincere effort went into the project: “I am always amazed at the amount of talent and creativity I see out here and it is a blessing to have the opportunity to show a glimpse of that to people back home.”
