Would You Name Your Baby ‘iOS’?

by Dawn Raffel

Move over Emma, Jacob, Sophia, and all you other tots and tykes with popular baby names. According to BabyCenter.com, a growing number of parents are naming their offspring after their favorite technology. That means we can expect to see more babies named Apple, Mac, and even Siri (the voice-enabled “personal assistant” on the iPhone).

In other baby-naming trends, it seems that the X-rated 50 Shades of Grey trilogy is having an impact: The monikers Grey, Gray, and Anastasia (the female protagonist) are up.

So whatever happened to naming the baby after grandma? Well, she’s not your grandma, but in a more PG-rated vein, BabyCenter’s editors note a 54 percent increase in the name Betty—a tribute, they speculate, to 90-year-old Betty White.
