Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, the American Pickers on the History Channel, travel from barn to outbuilding across the United States looking for secondhand treasures to buy and resell. In their new book, American Pickers Guide to Picking (Hyperion, $24.99), the two offer a list of money-fetching brands to look for. Are any of these in your attic or garage? If so, find an appraiser at the American Society of Appraisers (appraisers.org).

Gosh- I just checked my garage, and I do indeed have a 1929 Cadillac Roadster in there, just collecting dust. Thanks, Readers Digest! And who would thought that Steiff bear was worth anything. It’s gotta be a hundred years old. pfft.
