The Best Cocoa

On a cold, blustery day, there's nothing quite like cocoa the old-fashioned way.

You Will Need
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup low-fat (1% milkfat) milk
Miniature marshmallows (optional)
1 cinnamon stick, 4 inches long (optional)

What to Do
1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and cocoa. Stir in the water. Bring to a boil over moderate heat. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 minutes, whisking constantly.

2. Stir in the milk. Increase the heat to moderate; cook until heated through. Do not boil. Pour into a cup. Top with several marshmallows and add the cinnamon stick as a stirrer if you like.

Makes: 1 cup
