Cooking time: 20 to 25 minutes
Prep time: 25 minutes plus standing
You Will Need
3/4 cup water
1/3 cup butter (no substitutes)
1 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1 large egg white
1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream
Cream Cheese Mixture
1 package (8 ounces) reduced-fat cream cheese
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg white
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup (6 ounces) miniature semisweet chocolate chips
What to Do
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Coat a 15" x 10" x 1" baking pan with vegetable cooking spray; set aside.
2. Combine the water, butter, and chocolate in a small saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat until melted; stir until smooth. Cool.
3. Meanwhile, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt together in a large mixer bowl. Add egg, egg white, and sour cream; beat on low speed just until combined. Stir in chocolate mixture until smooth.
4. Make cream cheese mixture: Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg white, and vanilla in another mixer bowl on medium speed until smooth; set aside.
5. Spread chocolate batter into prepared baking pan. Drop the cream cheese mixture by tablespoonfuls over batter; cut through batter with a knife to swirl. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
6. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into 48 bars.
