When he saw a young man fall backward onto the subway tracks in Manhattan in January 2007, construction worker Wesley Autrey, 50, didn’t hesitate. He asked a woman to watch his two little girls, six and four, then jumped down and pulled the man into a space between the tracks as a 37-ton train rumbled directly over them. Miraculously, both men survived with nothing more than bruises. Now Autrey is known worldwide as the Subway Hero. His motto: “If you see something, do something.”
